Seiryou Gakuen is a popular high-ranked school in the seaside city of Minato which prides itself on the latest facilities and student independence. Since a year ago, it has been managed concurrently by the student council and the new entrants council.
Soutarou is a second year student who is part of the ‘twilight club’ (tasogare-bu) that was formed under special circumstances and is governed by the student council. It helps with minor things like searching for lost objects and resolving troubles and worries. Even though every day is busy, they are carefree and he gets to walk to school with the student council president who he looks up to and talk with the beautiful club leader.
One day, he received a letter with no name on it:
“Will you be able to solve the repeated problems that will happen from now on?”
At the same time, a helicopter descended upon the school. The club was then besieged by various troubles: negotiations with the two school councils, a place with snow cherry blossoms, a mysterious clock tower, and a mysterious ability that could be used only by a few select people. There are many secrets called ‘alicegram’ which lie buried in the town. Will Soutarou be able to solve them all?Last edited by Frankincense; November 4th, 2020 at 04:07 PM.

Re: Haruoto Alice * Gram
Hi all.
I'm here to announce a new TL project I've been working on. After the failure that is Fortune Arterial and several years of improving my Japanese, I decide to get another shot of VN translating. Special thanks to Checkmate for allowing me to post it here.
The first release will be the patch for the trial version of the game, which is about 10-20% of the common route. Then, if nothing goes wrong after that, I'll continue with the full version.
I don't really want to make an estimate of the release date because if I do, I'll certainly not make it. But to give you an idea of my current progress, right now I've finished translating all lines in the trial version. Once I finish editing and giving a finishing touch, it should be good to go. I'll try to keep this thread alive by posting about progress regularly, if anyone cares.
Finally, here are some screenshots of what my release should look like.
P.S. Right now I'm not hiring, but if you're interested in helping me, drop me a message and I'll be happy to discuss it.

Progress update:
Editing 23% completed (Trial version)
Currently I'm facing a small but somewhat grueling issue. For example, inputting this—
"No! Some weird stuff came out again. What does this thing have against me?"
The game engine doesn't know how to do word wrapping for me. It simply starts a new line regardless of where the current one ends. Normally this poses little to no problem in Japanese, but English is a different story.
There's a code I can insert into a game file to instruct the engine to do word wrapping automatically, but I have to be able to decompile the file first before I can even think of inserting the code, and currently there is no known existing tool capable of that. The only workaround now is to manually insert "\n" every time I want to start a new line.
Example:
"No! Some weird stuff came out again. What does this thing\nhave against me?"
Needless to say this is immensely time-consuming. I can still finish this project on my own with this method, but an engineer would greatly reduce the time I need for it. =\

From what can _ see in the screenshots, the font is monospaced, so one could write a program that automatically does the word wrapping since the character limit is known.
What format are the files that you edit and write the English text in? _ could write a tool in a few hours if the format is not complicated.

Re: Haruoto Alice * Gram
I don't know what the engine is like, but see if putting the word in brackets ie: [word] makes it wordwrap. If it works out, then it can just be a simple find and replace all spaces into "] [" and using the CONCAT command to put a bracket at the start end end of each line.
Also may just be me not knowing how the engine works, but I would assume the \n just puts whatever is after it on the next line, regardless of how far it is in the textbox. At least, that's how it worked in the cs2 engine.Last edited by mistarstar; July 19th, 2020 at 10:47 PM.

Re: Haruoto Alice * Gram
Nice suggestion. Actually, I did that before in my previous project. Wonder why I didn't think of that.
Yes the font is monospaced. This is an example of a disassembled script file. If there are duplicates, the line I have to translate is always the first line. It looks quite messy though. I'm not sure if there's a simple way to detect those lines.
Yes, Kirikiri should have a tag for word wrapping, though I don't know how to do it for this version of Kirikiri. (Square brackets are used to add furigana e.g. [ねこ]猫.) Or does this game use Krkrz? I'm not quite sure. In any case, I'm still a little reluctant to use that method, because adding a tag to every word will probably make the script files grow larger than necessary.
Yes, "\n" is used for line wrapping. I've been using it as a workaround. The problem is that these lines will be used in windows of different lengths. E.g. while they look okay in the main dialog window, words still get split in the save/load window.
Ultimately I want to insert a word wrapping code instead of using line wrapping to solve this issue, but currently no decompiler exists for this version of Kirikiri, so I have no choice but to ignore this for now.
By the way, what CS2 tool do you use? I'm a little curious.

Re: Haruoto Alice * Gram
For reference, the way to put in furigana in the cs2 engine is: [猫/ねこ]. Luckily for me, there were tools for the engine that I was using (http://www.doddlercon.com/main/?p=120). I used Doddler's Kamikaze tools in combination with GARbro (https://github.com/morkt/GARbro) (used to put everything back into the original .int format). Only thing I couldn't figure out how to do was to unpack and repack the image files for names and menus.
It also might just be a difference in the engines, but the script files I'm working with were originally 142kb and the process of translating it and putting in brackets to keep everything wordwrapped on their own increased the file to 147kb.
You're a fan translator. It's okay if there's parts in the engine that are unpolished. Just make that up in the translation.Last edited by mistarstar; July 20th, 2020 at 11:19 AM.

Re: Haruoto Alice * Gram
If you only edit the lines and do not remove or insert any, then the program just need to compare the lines between the original and the edited versions and apply a filter on those lines that are different.
Could you post a sample of original and edited file pair, so _ can test the program?

Since we can't post attachments here, allow me to share a short one in spoiler. You can copy and save it in txt format (UTF-8 with BOM).
Forgot to say that "\\n" (double backslash) must be used instead of "\n" because the latter causes random crashes.
